We finally made it camping this weekend. I have been antsy all week, waiting to pack up and spend some time relaxing. I didn’t get to spin as much as I wanted but I did find the excuse to drink a couple of these:

The First Day of Fall

6 Cups apple cider                              1/2 tsp. nutmeg

4 cinnamon sticks                            6 cloves

4 Tbsp. brown Sugar                           1 1/2 C apple brandy

Mix the cider, brown sugar and spices over medium heat for 10 minutes add apple brandy and strain into mugs. Enjoy in front of a bonfire, preferably with your favorite yarn…

My life has been pretty frazzled as of late. I needed to spin something that relaxed my shoulders, something that would remind me to step back and take a breath. I made Cocoon, a butter soft blend of hand dyed wool and honey colored silk. I love this yarn, just stroking it is soothing.

Good day, Sunshine

Living on Kodiak Island could be tough. When there are  thirty grey days in a row, it’s hard not to be pessimistic.  Kodiak made me appreciate the sun. The way the rays reach through your skin and warm your hair. The way everything at sunrise gets a butter gold glow.  In Indiana the sun can get a deep orange cast, so unlike the lukewarm rays up North.

My first Big City Yarn is Sunshine, a tribute to Indiana’s golden rays. I really dig the way the bamboo clouds turned out! It’s 75% Wool 25% Bamboo
